What is the difference between Sealed and Constant Airflow Inflatables?

Our constant airflow inflatables are machine-stitched and require a fan to continuously pump air through the inflatable to keep it firm and bouncy for running along. The obstacle course is kept inflated via an air inlet tube, which at our standard length of six metres enables the blower to be secured well away from the poolside. These products are suitable for pools only and are very quick to set up and pack away – an excellent choice for multi-purpose pools.

Our sealed inflatables are hot air welded and when inflated are completely airtight. Our modular ranges (Aqua Adventure Series and Aqua Fun Series) can be configured in multiple ways and many of the modules are suitable for both pool and open water environments. Our sealed inflatables toys and games are also hot air welded, many of which are plenty of fun floating freely around the pool or within a sectioned-off zone on a beachfront, river or lake.

If stuck between the choice of constant airflow or sealed inflatables, simply contact our friendly team and we can help decide what fits best with your pool.

Do I need to worry about product height, obstacle height and slide height?

Obstacle height and slide height are important so that you can ensure your inflatables are going to be safe for users. But you don't have to worry about this - as long as we know your water depths we will do the hard work for you to make sure your products are going to be safe for your visitors and fully compliant with the Australian Standard 3533.4.5.

What is the minimum water depth for Aflex inflatables?

We adhere to minimum water depths as per the Australian Standard AS3533.4.5 calculation.

Minimum water depth = (platform height in metres + 1.8m (average height of user)) /2

E.g. Minimum water depth for 1.1m high slide

(1.1m + 1.8m)/2 = 1.45m

We will do this hard work for you - we will ask you to complete a simple form with your water depth information, which enables us to recommend a range of safety compliant products for your pool.

Are Aflex inflatables suitable for residential use?

Our products are designed for commercial use and are made of heavy-duty commercial grade PVC, durable for long term use in a wide range of indoor and outdoor aquatic environments. However, we often have interest in some of our smaller products for residential pools, and are happy to advise on this.

What is the price of your products?

We have a giant variety of products, pricing varies from range to range and by product size. We offer products to suit all budgets and are happy to discuss pricing further when you get in touch with us.

How do I set up Aflex constant airflow inflatables and how long will it take?

Unroll on pool-side. Attach blower to hose and electric motor. Insert hose into air tube of inflatable. Secure tube with bungy. Inflate and lift carefully into the water. Secure at the anchor points. Allow approximately 10-20 minutes to set up depending on the size, and slightly longer to dry and put away.

Don't worry, for all of our aquatic constant airflow inflatables we can provide you with a full instructional video and quick setup guide so that setting up your products is a breeze.

How do I set up Aflex sealed inflatables and how long will it take?

To inflate each sealed inflatable, simply unroll, remove the valve cap and fully inflate until firm with a high pressure blower or hand pump. If you are connecting modular obstacles (our Aqua Adventure, Aqua Fun or Tiny Tots Series), you will need to link the obstacles using the Connecting Sleeves before inflating. Carefully lift into the water and secure at the anchor points (if necessary). Allow 5-10 minutes for a sealed pool toy and 20+ minutes for an obstacle course, depending on how many modules and how many blowers you are using.

Don't worry, for all of our aquatic sealed inflatables we can provide you with a full instructional video and quick setup guide so that setting up your products is a breeze.

How should I store my inflatables?

We recommend storing inflatables only when they are completely dry. After lifting from the water, wipe dry with towels. For your constant airflow inflatables, it is a good idea to leave them inflated on the side of the pool with the blower still attached and running to help it dry out. For long term storage we recommend storing on a trolley to keep it off the ground.

How many lifeguards do I need for Aflex aquatic inflatables?

For an average 14 m (46 ft) obstacle course, we recommend 2-3 people for setup and lifeguarding. For our sealed toys, one person can easily set these up on their own. We generally recommend one lifeguard per toy but this can depend on the size of the toy, size of the pool, and other factors.

What is the lifespan of an Aflex inflatable?

Aflex inflatables will remain in good condition for 3 years on average with regular use (i.e. most weekends and school holidays). We have clients that have had their inflatables for 5 years and longer, and their inflatables remain sound for continued use!

How do I repair a hole or a rip in my inflatable?

Minor abrasions are easily repaired with patches and glue. We supply a full repair kit and glue recommendations with each product, and full instructions are within your Aflex Operations Guide. We also have a quick instructional video showing how to repair a hole in your inflatable that we can provide on request.

How do I prevent mildew in the inflatable?

Mildew is not usually a problem if the inflatable is stored correctly. The easiest way to prevent mildew is to ensure the inflatable is not stored wet. It is very easy to dry by simply leaving the inflatable on the pool-side after use, with the blower still running. The warm air is pumped in and it dries from the inside very quickly. Excess water on the outside can be dried off with towels.

Will the thread rot and the stitching come apart?

At Aflex we use extremely heavy-duty, synthetic, rot-proof thread and specially designed multiple-seaming techniques incorporating several rows of stitching to ensure an extremely durable product. With the correct inflatable care and following our usage guidelines, it is highly unlikely you will have issues with the thread and stitching of your Aflex products.

How do I know if the correct air pressure is being used for my inflatable?

An easy method to check if the air pressure is correct is to ensure that the inflated tubes or pads are tight to walk on. It is important that the correct pressure is maintained for the safety of users and for prolonging the lifespan of the inflatable.

How many children should be on the inflatable at any one time?

This depends on a number of different factors including the size of the inflatable, the type of inflatable and the ages and weights of the users. All of our products come with a product information sheet which includes safety recommendations and maximum number of users.

How are Aflex products shipped?

This depends on the time frame and the size of products. Many products are air freighted for prompt delivery. For larger orders, we often recommend sea freight for better shipping economy.

How do I take the best care of my Aflex inflatables?

Ensure products are dried well after use, rolled up and lifted carefully onto a trolley for storage. It is important to take care not to drag your inflatables to prevent causing damage to the fabric. Your Aflex Operations Guide provided with your product includes a full checklist as to how to take the best care of your inflatables. We also have an instructional video available to demonstrate this.

What accessories will I need for my Aflex inflatables?

Our friendly sales team will ensure you will have all of the required accessories for your inflatable/s. Generally a blower/pump and carry sheet or trolley are necessary.
